Welcome to the "T Fords of Texas,"
The San Antonio Ford Model T club

The "T Fords of Texas" was formed in 1975, As of February 2012, we have 56 family memberships. Our registry of regional Model Ts now lists 104 vehicles of all kinds, from single seat race cars to ambulances to 1 ton trucks. Although the club is based in San Antonio, we have friends and members across the region, in towns such as Atascosa, Boerne, Castroville, Cibolo, Converse, Corpus Christi, Devine, Floresville, Garden Ridge, Georgetown, Helotes, Lake Hills, Lockhart, New Braunfels, San Angelo, San Marcos, Schertz, Schulenburg, Seguin, Spring Branch and Uvalde. Not all our members actually own a T. But all are interested in the culture and experience associated with the most important vehicle ever built, the one that put the world on wheels!

You will find below just a few snap shots of our club activities. If you like what you see, scope through other pages on this site, which, as of February 2012, is only a month or so old. Even better, come visit us at our next planned activity. You will find the "where and when" on the "TFOT Event Calendar on the list of pages on the right had side column.

The T Fords of Texas" is not big on meetings! We'd rather drive our Ts than discuss points of order. We also do not have an "official" mailing address or phone number. Instead, we try to have at least one organized club activity every month and we simply squeeze in a quick get together at the beginning to pass on information that is important and make decisions if needed. When we don't have a big activity planned, we meet either at a members house or at the Texas Transportation Museum. The exception is when our planned activity is a technical session. Then we meet in someone's shop. Ronnie Bitterly has been very generous with his facilities on more than one occasion. But we are not that hard to find

We hold our annual "San Antonio Ford Model T Show" at the Texas Transportation Museum on the first weekend of May. Thanks to the sponsorship of the Red McCombs Automotive Group admission to both the Model T Show and the entire museum, including parking and train rides, is free. The event usually attracts over thirty Model Ts of every conceivable type. Click the links on the right for images of all the Ts from previous shows.

Touring or cruising is one of our favorite activities. It's great for us to go places together and it's fun for the people we meet along the way, too. TFOT member Tom Campbell of Castroville leads a tour of Medina County every year and its always a lot of fun. Lockhart member George "Sonny" House has lead a tour of Caldwell County and we are looking forward to doing that again soon. We try to tour San Antonio's historic missions every year. We cruise downtown during the San Antonio Model T show and have our pictures taken as we roll past the Alamo every year. We take shorter, almost spontaneous runs as the mood hits us. The BBQ joint in New Berlin is always popular. Not too far away and it gets us out of the city and away from its not always Model T friendly streets.
Car Shows

You will probably find a TFOT member with his or her T at just about all the major car shows and show'n'shines that happen with such frequency in San Antonio and surrounding towns. We take part in a lot of charity events as a club as well. Come visit with us. We love to meet new people and chat about our wonderful Model Ts.

Bob Dale and George Wilson at the Pre-WWII Swap Meet in Chickasa, Oklahoma
Over the past few years we have visited a number of state parks, and even taken part in a couple of movies. We take part in the Tejeda Middle School History Faire and have even been known to take our Ts to schools so students can get a "hands on" experience of how old cars look, operate and sound. We get approached about participating in any number of events. We can't always do them all as a group but if it is car related, chances are you will find one or two of us taking part.
